The Girls on the Run of NOVA Reindeer Romp 5k presented by Argon ST is all set to take place at Reston Town Center, Saturday, December 6 at 8:30 AM.

Of the 5,000 expected runners over 2,500 will be young ladies ranging from third to eighth grades from across Northern Virginia counties including Fairfax, Arlington, Prince William, and Loudoun.

150 Girls on the Run program sites reach 2500+ participants through the Girls on the Run of NOVA council. Each site has a coach, who is a community volunteer using the Girls on the Run curriculum as a guide to help young girls discover the power of running while they learn about self esteem and strong values.

The 10-12 week program combines training for a 3.1 mile running event with self-esteem enhancing, uplifting workouts. The goal of the program is to encourage positive, emotional, social, mental, and physical development, culminating with the running event of which every single runner finishes the 5K distance.

On December 6, 2008 at Reston Town Center, a celebration will take place as 5,000 runners made up of girls, boys, moms, dads, and loved ones take their places at the start line of the 3rd annual Reindeer Romp 5k presented by Argon ST.
